I've known Helen at Venus nutrition for many, many years. She is a very successful nutritionalist, offering advice to women in midlife, debunking a lot of menopause myths. Every month she holds a monthly menopause meeting up in Oxted with a different guest speaker; last month (menopause awareness month) it was my turn to advise on skin and makeup.
We had a Q&A session and quick demo on makeup application for hooded eyes. We also spoke at length about products. Most women are bombarded with information and tend to either overspend or just run away! My main message, always is:
Keep it simple, makeup should never feel like a chore! Your routine should fit in:time wise, money and capability wise - otherwise you’ll never stick to it.
Simplify your makeup bag. Have a handful of products that work really hard for you: I refer to it as "your 5 a day" in makeup
Just because we reach midlife, don't compromise/ditch your makeup look which won't match your personality...tweak it so it works with your skin now. We are the same person we were...
Lastly get skincare right (again keep it simple) if your skin is good, your makeup will look good.
Thanks for having me, a really lovely bunch of women.
